341332 Pte Douglas Walton Wheat (aka Walton Wheat) was born on 26.12.1898 at Hinckley, Leicestershire. He initially attested with the 3/5th Leicestershire Regiment on 29.4.1915 and was assigned no. 4160. He was discharged on 24.12.1915 "having made a mis-statement as to his age" He later enlisted and was serving with D Coy, 22 Bn North'd Fus when he was taken POW at Bullecourt on 21.3.1918. He was held at Munster1 camp in Germany and was repatriated after the end of the war. POW reports suggest that he was not wounded. 

According to the 1939 Register he was living at 24 Rutland Avenue, Hinckley, Leicestershire and was a Foreman in a Hosiery Manufacturer.

He passed away on 27 November 1965 at Hinckley.
