NEF

Charles Edward H Sutherland enlisted 9th February 1900, and was transferred to Railway Police 11th Sept 1900. The 4 clasps confirmed on Kitchener's Horse medal roll which also notes issued 21/1/14 care of Mrs C Price, Whittlesea, Queenstown, Cape Colony. The roll also records that his service in the Railway Police did not qualify him for the King's South Africa Medal. On his entry in the Duke of Edinburgh Own Volunteer Rifles it records he was promoted to Lieutenant in the Railway Police and that he qualified for the Cape Colony clasp, but as he qualified for Relief of Kimberley he was not entitled to it.
