1914/15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal (PTE. A.E. HEARD.5TH INF/CPL. S.A.M.C.)
1065 A.E.HEARD. Arthur Edward Heard was born in about 1894. He served with D Company, 5th Infantry (Kaffrarian Rifles) in German South West Africa and moved on to serve with the South Africa Medical Corps in German East Africa with the 8th Mounted Brigade Field Ambulance. He was discharged as Permanently Unfit for Tropical Service at Wynberg, Cape Town on 1.3.1918.
He was a 25 year old Diamond Digger in the Barkly West diggings when he married in Kimberley in 1919. He passed away on New Year's Day 1969.
