152598 Chief Stoker Ernest Edwin Earley was born in Shanklin, Isle of Wight on 30.12.1870. A Labourer, he enlisted with the Royal Navy at Portsmouth on 7.1.1890 and saw service in the Anglo Boer War aboard HMS Fearless from 16.6.-8.11.1900. He was Shore Pensioned on 3.2.1912 on which day he joined the Royal Fleet Reserve. Recalled to service for WWI, he served aboard Europa and St George, among other vessels and was demobilised on 22.2.1919.
With a Very Good conduct rating throughout his service he was awarded a Royal Navy Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. He also attended the 1911 Coronation and was awarded the medal.
He died on 8.9.1922 at his home - 46 Handsworth Road, Tottenham, London.
