Benjamin Jack Chandler, address 3 Delhi St, Islington, by trade a Messenger enlisted at Greys Inn into 18th Bn Royal Welsh Fusiliers (2nd London Welsh), on 4th March 1915, his declared age 19 years as Private 26613. Discharged 25th May 1915 under age. in this time he did forfeit a days’ pay and endure 1 hour extra drill as punishment for 24 hours absence!
Enlisting on 30th June 1915 in Handel Street into 3/1st London Brigade Royal Field Artilley, Driver 2329. 19th February 1916 transferred 280th Bde RFA. Arrived in Le Harve 23rd February 1916, spending a week at 36th (Ulster) Div Base Depot before joining 1/1 London Bde RFA on 1st March 1916. 23rd March 1916 internal posting to 1st Battery. 27th June 1917 to 18th Divisional Ammunition Column. 11th August 1917 C battery 83rd Bde RFA. Remained with C Battery until the end of the war. Awarded 7 day Field Punishment No 2 for missing a Guard Mount and 2 days absence. Disembodied on Demobilisation to the Reserve 16th July 1919 and Discharged fully on 31st March 1920.
