M-1416 Chidura Native Trooper with Rhodesian Regiment Served 17.9.1917 - 25.11.1918 German East Africa with Gen Northey's force against German Askaris. Recruited first from the Ndebele tribe but later, because of a shortage of conscripts, from other tribes including the Mashona. They were issued with rifles and uniforms but operated bare-foot.
