George Neilson served with the 1st Bn. KSOB from the Anglo Boer War to WWI. From Paisley, Scotland he was late entrant to the Boer War, earning the Transvaal and South Africa 1902 clasps to his Queens Medal. In WWI he was in France wef 25.10.1914 and was awarded the Croix de Guerre per LG 12.7.1918. He sustained a Gun Shot Wound to the Left Foot on 13.5.1915 whilst a Company Quartermaster Sergeant with the 2nd Bn. K.O.S.B.
He was discharged on 20.3.1920 with address 5 King Edward Street, Alexandria, Dumbartonshire and, post-war, joined the Post Office with whom he earned the Imperial service Medal published in the London Gazette of 7.6.1940 where he was a Postman at Dumbarton.
