1939-45 Star; Atlantic Star; War Medal 1939-45 - all unnamed as awarded housed in an attractive wooden frame along with a small Merchant Navy badge and the original condolence award slip.
Joseph Fullam Campbell was born in 1920 in Leith Midlothian. He joined the Merchant Navy in early 1940 and was the Third Engineer Officer aboard the Hain Steamship Company's SS Tregenna when she was torpedoed by U-Boat 65 on 17.12.1940.
On the 17th September 1940 the Tregenna was part of a convoy approximately 300 miles north-west of the Isle of Lewis in the Hebrides when she was torpedoed by the German U-Boat 65 and sunk. The Captain and 32 men were lost.
