942399 Flight Sergeant Alexander Charles Burne (Reilly) was born on 27.10.1919, the son of Oliver Ogilvie Charles Burne and Gertrude Burne, of Newcastle-on-Tyne.enlisted at Cardington between September 1939 and August 1940.

According to the 1939 Register, he was living with his parents at 46 Queens Road, Jessmond, Newcastle on Tyne and was a Wireless Mechanic by trade. 

At the age of 22, on 20 Oct 1942, he was Killed in Action/Lost without trace, operating out of a base in Egypt with 203 Squadron in a Maryland I which disappeared without trace during an Ant-Shipping Recce to the West of Crete.
