Walter Halliwell was born in Deane Lancs on 25 September 1895. Having joined the RHA he was sent to France where he earned the the Military Medal (LG 12.11.1917 Gazette issue 30424 page 13012 in the rank of Superintendent. Seeing out the war he re-enlisted with the RA on 14 September 1920 providing his address as 216 Derby Street, Bolton.
He was awarded the Territorial Efficiency Medal in 1923 and, according to the 1939 Register was living at 2 Hastings Road, Bolton and was an Operator/Cotton Spinner by trade.
He passed away in Bolton on 27 March 1969.
