Archie Baugh was born in Honiton Devon in 1883. He enlisted with the Royal Marines in 1901 and was aboard HMS Cornwall when WWI broke out. He was with Cornwall at the Battle of the Falkland Isles in December 1914 and then went to the Dardanelles as part of the Naval presence in that ill-fated campaign in 1915. He was awarded his LSGCM in 1917 followed by the award of the scarce Naval MSM in the LG of 15.2.1919 - this was one of only 21 Naval MSM's awarded for "Services in Cruisers employed on Escort, Convoy, and Patrol duties during 1917 and 1918."

He was discharged to pension on completion of his service on 11 August 1922 and the joined the Royal Marine Police on 23 April 1923. He was discharged from the RMP as an Inspector on 16 August 1938 having reached the age of 55. 

The 1939 Register has him as a Licensed Victualler living at 111 Elson Road, Gosport. He died on 16.9.1949
