Edward Temple served with the Royal Field Artillery. He was born in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire on 26.4.1892. Having attested for service and been commissioned, he was sent to India in August 1915 serving with the 74th Battery where he was in action against the Mohmands and the Swatis in the vicinity of Hafiz Kor and Shabkadar which qualified him for the 1914-15 Star.

From there he was posted to Mesopotamia where he served over the period December 1916 until October 1918. thereafter serving as the deputy Assistant Adjutant General until 15.2.1919.

He was awarded the 1937 Coronation Medal as a Major in the Royal Artillery. He was awarded the OBE as a Lieutenant Colonel (Acting Colonel) in the 1941 New Years Honours - recorded in the London Gazette of 31.12.1940 (number 35029 page 9)

From 28.4.1941 until 9.10.1941 he was Assistant Quartermaster General, Home Forces and promoted first to Colonel and then to Brigadier. He retired in that rank on 4.7.1946 and died in hospital in Greater Manchester on 12.1.1961
