According to the 1939 Register "Bess" Payton was living at 90 White Road, Birmingham, Warwickshire and was an Elementary School Teacher by profession.
In 1972 she went to London together with her sister Gertrude to collect an award for 40 years service with St. John Ambulance.
She passed away in Wrekin, Shropshire in March 2005
