Colonial Auxiliary Forces LS Medal (PTE. C.S.POWELL. E.B.RY.BN..A.F.I.)
PTE. C.S.POWELL. E.B.RY.BN..A.F.I. Charles Stephen Powell was born in Jullunder, India, the son of a Platelayer on the Railways. The Eastern Bengal Railway Battalion he volunteered with were an auxiliary regiment under the Bengal command. They included staff of the Eastern Bengal Railway and Northern Bengal State Railway.
The Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long Service Medal was instituted by Queen Victoria in 1899 as a military long service award for part-time members of all ranks in any of the organized military forces of the British Colonies, Dependencies and Protectorates throughout the British Empire.
