Walter William Berry was born in Forest Gate, London in 1877. He enlisted with the Rifle Brigade on 16 April 1895 and took part in the Occupation of Crete 1898 and Nile Expedition of the same year whereafter he was with his regiment in South Africa for the Anglo Boer War taking part in the Relief of Ladysmith operations.
Having returned to England on 24.9.1902 he was posted to Egypt until 18 March 1903. He died in Hackney, London a few months after his return - on 2 July 1903.
Also entitled to the Queens Sudan medal with Khartoum clasp which is not with the group.
