Alfred Harold Flint was born in Walthamstow on 21 August 1905. He joined the Royal Navy as a Boy in 1921 and, inter-war, served on a number of vessels as a Leading Signalman. He served aboard HMS Speedwell. He was twice Mentioned in Dispatches - on the first occasion (LG 16.5.1941) it was for Good Services whilst salvaging a Merchantman. The second occasion he was M.I.D. was (LG 6.4.1943) For Bravery and Skill in the hazardous operations in which the Allied Forces were landed in North Africa. 

He was awarded the Royal Fleet Reserve LSGCM on 27 September 1938

He passed away in Waltham Forrest, Greater London on 1 May 1988.

Sold with a quantity of original documentation including two framed M.I.D. certificates, original service parchment and several group photos wherein the recipient appears.
