Memorial Plaque (ARNOLD ANDERSON) with cardboard envelope as issued to Next of Kin
Arnold Anderson does not appear on the Commonwealth War Graves database. This is not unusual as many war deaths are, as yet, unaccounted for. He does appear on the Register of Deceased Soldiers Effects list as having passed away from Sickness in France on 9.3.1919 at the 48th Casualty Clearing Station. He was a Private, no. 95880, with the 5th battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers at the time.
The Next of Kin Memorial Plaque is a bronze plaque approximately 11 cms or 4½ inches diameter with the name of someone who died serving with the British and Empire forces in the First World War. This was issued to the Next of Kin of the casualty along with the scroll. They were posted out separately, typically in 1919 and 1920, and a ‘King’s message’ was enclosed with both, containing a facsimile signature of the King.
