A scarce pair to the Herefords. Pte. Frank Smith served with the Hereford Regiment with no. 2611 before transferring to the Gloucesters with no. 37565 and, ultimately, to the Machine Gun Corps with no. 162682. It was whilst with 62nd Bn. M.G.C. (Infantry) that he was K.I.A. in France at the age of 31 on 20.10.1918.
He was survived by his wife Evelyn Zeada Smith of 148 Union Lane, Ledbury, Herefordshire and is remembered with honour on the Vis-en-Artois Memorial.
