Alexander Scott was from Prestonpans in Edinburgh. He went to war with the 1st Bn Kings Own Scottish Borderers and saw action in Egypt from 16.11.1914. He returned to France with his outfit and was KIA on 28.1.1917. He is remembered on Thiepval Memorial.
Also awarded Delhi Durbar 1911 medal 12.12.1911 earned whilst serving in India.
The 1st Battalion K.S.O.B. was in India on the outbreak of the First World War (1914-18). It went on to serve at Gallipoli (1915), before arriving on the Western Front in March 1916
His next of kin was his mother, Mrs Ann Scott (or Chalmers) of Haddington 59 Middle St. Cuthill, Prestonpans.
