This medal was awarded for minor campaigns in India both pre and post WWI. This is the Edward VII issue and the first of three different versions of the medal. Originally struck in sterling silver, this is die-struck in the same manner from a base metal alloy and finished in pure silver.
Medals were struck in Calcutta and by the Royal Mint in England, the Royal Mint versions having an ornate claw suspender.
