Those attached to 1st Army or 8th Army were awarded the appropriate clasp to the star, these are denoted by Arabic numerals worn on the ribbon bar when ribbons alone are worn.
A third clasp for those who took part in the invasion 1942-43 was also awarded, this is represented by a silver rosette on the ribbon bar when ribbons alone are worn.
