George Boniface was born in Tidlesham, Sussex on 4.4.1854. He served aboard the Argus on the Gold Coast of Africa from 10.5.1973 till 18 March 1874 as part of the Ashantee Campaign of 1873/74. He was shore pensioned on 22.10.1892 and was awarded the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal to H.M.S. Duke of Wellington. He passed away in Westhampnett, Sussex in September 1936.
Frederick Boniface, his son, was born in Felpham, Sussex in 1895. He served with the B.E.F. in France and suffered a Gun Shot Wound to the head on 24.8.1918. According to the 1939 Register he was a Hemp Hackler living at 2 Ersham Road, Hailsham, Sussex.
