General Service Medal clasp Borneo (21139492 CPL TULARASI GURUNG 1/2 GR)
In 1962, the North Kalimantan National Army (TNKU) attempted to capture the Sultan of Brunei. The British Far East Command airlifted two companies of the 1/2 GR from Singapore to Labuan airfield. The Gurkhas advanced against the rebels, securing the Sultan and other key points in Brunei. The Sultan was so grateful that he formed the Gurkha Reserve Unit (GRU) to protect him and Brunei's citizens.
The General Service Medal with Borneo Clasp was awarded for 30 days service ashore, afloat or 1 operational sortie from 24th December 1962 and 11th August 1966.
Medal is in good condition unless otherwise indicated.
