General Service Medal clasp Palestine 1945-48 (14417199 SGT. D.B.G. OWEN, R. WARWICK.) - with box of issue.
Dennis Brian Goodwin Owen was born in Lambeth, London on 12 July 1925. According to the 1939 Register he was a Schoolboy living with his parents at "Donnybank" in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. He saw service in WWII with the 1/7 Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment and was Wounded in Action on 21 August 1944.
On the day he was wounded, the 1/7th Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment, was heavily engaged in the final stages of the Normandy campaign, and were likely near the Leipzig Redoubt area, after intense fighting in July and early August, with the battalion fighting hard against German forces as the Allies pushed towards the liberation of France.
Having survived that ordeal, Owen went on to serve in with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Warwicks in Palestine which was a hotbed of agitation in the years just after the end of WWII.
