1914-15 Star (A. DEATH, A.B., M.F.A.)
Alfred Death was born in Brightlingsea, Essex in 1868. He took to sea and was, in 1901, a Mate aboard the Daisie. He saw service with the Mercantile Fleet Auxiliary in WWI as an Able Seaman and was aboard the "Monsoon" when his medals were awarded.
The Monsoon (ex-LATHARNA) was a hired yacht, Pendant No 075. Built 1897, 366grt/TM437. Armament: 2-12pdr. In service 10.5.15-13.2.19. She may have served as wireless-equipped A/P Group Leader or in special yacht squadrons, at home or in Mediterranean.
Death died at Brightlingsea on Christmas Eve 1938
Medals are in good condition unless indicated otherwise. Sold with some research Also entitled to a British War Medal and Victory Medal which are not included.
