Victory Medal (18430 PTE. R. CLARKE. DURH. L.I.)

Robert Clarke was from Sunderland, Durham. He served in WWI with the 1th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry and was posted to France on 22 April 1916. He was transferred to the Royal Defence Corps later in the war with no. 65457. His medals were initially returned but re-issued to him on 17 December 1923 - to 9 Fore Street, Sunderland.

This, according to the 1921 census, this was the address of Annie and Margaret Clarke - both pastry cooks and confectioners. It is assumed that they were closely related to Robert.

Medal is in good condition unless otherwise indicated. Also entitled to a British War Medal which is not included.
