William Henry John Cooper was a Railway Signalman born in Grittleton, Wiltshire on 18 December 1891. He served with the Royal Engineers in WWI - with no. 269122 and later, with no. WR/271307 - The "WR" prefix for Royal Engineers in WWI stands for Waterways and Railways, indicating service in the Transportation Troops branch. Introduced around March 1918, these numbers covered personnel in Inland Water Transport, docks, railway operating divisions, road construction, and quarrying companies. 

According to the 1939 Register he was living at 13 Seymour Road, Mangotsfield, Gloucestershire and was a Railway Signalman (Incapacitated). He died in Bristol in October 1962.

Medal is in good condition unless otherwise indicated. Also entitled to a British War Medal which is not included.
