Victory Medal (117989 PTE. G. WOOD. R.A.M.C.)
George Wood was born in Brighton, Sussex on 22 December 1879. Despite his age, he claimed to have never served in the armed forces before attesting for service with the Royal Army Medical Corps on 29 August 1916. A Fruiterer by occupation he was taken on strength on 15 May 1917 and saw service in France in 51 General Hospital before being discharged to the Reserve on 3 June 1919.
According to the 1921 census he was a Fruiterer for his own account living at 171 Crawley Road, Horsham. The 1939 Register has him as a Fruiterer/Shop Keeper living at 71 Crawley Road, Horsham.
Wood died in 1952
Medal is in good condition unless otherwise indicated. Also entitled to a British War Medal which is not included.
