Frederick Wellerman was born in Camberwell, London in 1891. He joined the Royal Navy in 196 and saw service aboard the St George and the Abercrombie. Post-war he joined the Merchant Navy with no. 1136755 and served as a Greaser, Galley Boy and Fireman. He was still serving in 1943 when he was discharged from Fort Frobisher. there is no record of him being awarded any WWII medals.
He was awarded the British Empire Medal when a Greaser aboard SS Corstar in the Kings Birthday Honours which award appeared in the LG of 18 June 1946.
