He relinquished his commission on account of ill-health contracted on active service on 11 March 1919, retained the rank of Captain, and was entitled to a Silver War Badge.
According to the 1939 Register he was a Company Director living at "Beech Croft," Crow Lees Road, Mirfield, Yorkshire (West Riding) and a Special Constable for West Riding. He was in fact the Divisional Commander of the Dewsbury Division of the Special Constabulary.
He passed away at 18 Crow Lees Road, Mirfield on 1 October 1964.
Note: The recipient’s Medal Index Card states that his first entry into a theatre of War was in Egypt on 29 December 1915; this would appear to be at variance with the fact that his first ‘Mention’ was on the Western Front in 1915.
