Arthur Humphreys Blake was born in Bengal, India in 1886. He served with the 8th Northumberland Fusiliers in WWI and was Wounded in action in 1916 after being sent to France on 20.9.1916. Commissioned an officer in 1917 he was attached to Inland Waterways in 1918.
He was made an OBE in 1921 when a Temporary Assistant in the Ministry of Shipping (LG 17 June 1921). In the 1935 Civil List he was a Technical Assistant in the Quantity Surveyor's Division (HM Office of Works)
According to the 1939 Register he was living in 38 Elmbourne Road, Wandsworth. He died in London on 29 May 1959.
