National Fire Brigade Association Medal clasp 10 years (FREDERICK J. CUDMORE)

Frederick James Cudmore was born in Wales in 1903. An Iron Ore Worker for 40 years before retiring, he was an active Fireman with Llantisant & Llantrit Fardre Rural Fire Brigade in Glamorgan for 33 years.

An article in a local publication dated 28 August 1926 referred to an injury he sustained while on duty, "The services of the Brigade were responsible as recently as Wednesday, the 25th, August for quelling a fire at No. 10 School Street, Pontyclun, in the occupation of Mr C. Thomas. Some furniture and a part of the premises were damaged, but the expeditious way in which the Brigade members acted soon got the fire under control and prevented any serious consequences.

Special mention should be made of Fireman Izzard, who displayed much tact and promptitude while rather serious injuries to his right hand were sustained by Fireman F. Cudmore."

According to the 1939 Register he was living at 32 Heolmiskin in Llantisant.
