Special Constabulary Long Service Medal GVR (HARRY H. READER)

Harry Reader was a Journalist who rose to the position of chief sub-editor of the Evening Telegraph. Born in Willoughbridge, Staffordshire on 6 May 1902 he began his career at the Leamington Morning News before joining the then Midland Daily Telegraph in 1929, working as chief reporter, picture sub-editor and finally chief sub-editor. 

According to the 1939 Register he was a Newspaper Sub-Editor living at 78 Wathen Road, Leamington Spa.

He spent half a century in journalism before retiring in 1966. He was a founder member of the Leamington Cycling and Athletic Club and was a keen sportsman in his younger days. He was also a Special Constable with the Leamington and county forces.

He passed away at the age of 84 in Warwickshire in 1986. 

Medal is in good condition unless otherwise indicated. Sold with research.
