Special Constabulary Long Service Medal GVIR (Robert W Stone) - in original box of issue marked 4623 Durham.
Robert Weir Stone was born in Greenock in 1889. He enlsited with the Royal Naval Division on 15 August 1911 and saw service with the Anson Battalion in WWI as an Acting Petty Officer/Writer from 3 September 1914. He was Wounded in Action in the Dardanelles - Gun Shot Wound to the Chest - and was discharged from hospital at Plymouth "Medicaly Unfit" on 23 August 1915.
According to the 1939 Register Robert Weir Stone was living at 46 Malvern Road, Billingham, Durham. He was a Draughtsman in the Heavy Chemical Industry and a Special Constable.
He died in 1963
