William Woodrow Efford was born in Devonport on 22 October 1918. He enlisted on 11.5.1939 with the 5th Bn Devon Regiment and was transferred to the 9th AA Regiment, RA on 8.12.1941. From there he was posted to the 7th HAA in 1944 and was discharged to the Reserve on 16 March 1946.
Efford was granted a divorce on the grounds of his wife's desertion in October 1947 but married again, to Hazel Carmen Taylor in Plymouth on 30 November 1957. His WWII medals were posted to him on 17 November 1948 to 179 Pasley Street, Stoke, Plymouth, Devon.
He died in Hampshire in 1999
