Edward Thomas Jones was born on 17 November 1918. He served with the Royal Artillery and was awarded the LSGC under AO 193 of 1940 as WO2 and was a Battery Sergeant Major when he was granted an emergency commission in July 1940.

He distinguished himself in the Italian campaign and was Mentioned in Dispatches in the LG of 24 August 1944.

His medals were dispatched to him on 6 August 1953 in the rank of Major.
