Kenneth George Cheshire's story was a tragic one. Born in Northumberland in 1926 he joined the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve and was posted to serve aboard Halifax bombers of 192 Squadron as an engineer.

On 9 February 1945 his aircraft, piloted by F/S Butler of the RNZAF took off from Foulsham for operations in the vicinity of Stettin. They were homeward bound when, at 2000 feet, they were in a midair collision with Lancaster PD376 flown by P/O Chalkley of 625 Squadron. The accident occurred at 01h20 and though the Lancaster escaped serious damage, the Halifax fell into the sea. Six men perished of which Cheshire was one. He has no known grave.

Out of the 12 Halifax aircraft that took off on the mission that day, only Cheshire's did not return.

Medals are in good condition unless indicated otherwise. Sold with some research.
