George Robert Utting was born in Mutford on 14 July 1923. He served with the RAF in WWII and joined the Cambridgeshire Constabulary in 1952. He was for 17 years the village "bobby" in Waterbeach, Cambridge. He retired from the force in 1980 at the age of 56 and passed away on 9 August 2012.
He was awarded the 1977 Jubilee Medal whilst with the Cambridge Constabulary.
