William Alexander Dobson was born in Peeble, Peeblesshire, Scotland on 27 September 1921. Hs father was a veteran of both the Anglo Boer War and WWI where he served as a Captain in the Army Service Corps.
Dobson saw service with the 51st Heavy Anti Aircraft Regiment of the Royal Artillery and was active with the 1st Army in North Africa where they were heavily engaged at Tobruk, and later in Italy. He was awarded the Efficiency Medal in 1946.
His medals were posted to him on 5 April 1949 to St Rowan's Lodge, Inverleithen, Peeblesshire, Scotland.
Dobson passed away in Edinburgh on 13 October 2008.
