Samson Albert Erasmus was born in Cape Town ion 4 October 1912. He attested for service with the Indian & Malay Corps on 1 September 1942 and was posted to 23rd Field Regiment, South African Artillery on 5 May 1943, seeing service with them in North Africa.

He was in trouble twice during his period of service - on the first occasion for Malingering and, on the second, for Losing his army clothing, for which he received a fine.

He transferred to the 43rd Light Anti Aircraft Regiment, SAA on 15 May 1944 and was with them in Italy from 5 August 1944. Erasmus was posted back to the Middle East where he was admitted to hospital on 16 September. He died from Chronic Nephritis in Egypt whilst on active service on 21 September 1945 and is remembered with honour in the Tel -el-Kebir War Memorial Cemetery.

His medals were posted to his wife at 24 Kildare Road, Newlands, cape Town on 17 February 1961.

Medals are in good condition unless otherwise indicated. Sold with some research including his SA Service file and cards. The medals are his full entitlement.
