Leonard William Reid was born in Hackney on 9 October 1912. He enlisted for service with the Royal Artillery on 18 July 1940 and was posted to 82/25 Light Anti Aircraft Regiment with whom he saw service in France & Germany, rising to the rank of Bombardier.

The 25th Light Anti-Aircraft (LAA) Regiment, RA (including 81, 82, and 225 Batteries), served as part of the 50th (Northumbrian) Infantry Division in France, landing on Gold Beach on D-Day, June 6, 1944. Equipped with Bofors 40mm guns, they defended beachheads and, later, in the campaign in France and Germany before ending the war with the 53rd (Welsh) Division.

According to the 1939 Register, Reid was a Wine Cellarmen living at 26 Meadfoot Road, Streatham - the same address his medals were posted to on 2 March 1949. He passed away in Lambeth in June 1969.

Medals are in good condition unless otherwise indicated. Sold with some research and a number of original documents including his Certificate of Transfer to the Army Reserve, his Soldier's Service Pay Book, Soldier's Release Book and his dog tags.
