Crimea Medal clasp Sebastopol (PRIVATE CHARLES BRYANT 13TH LIGHT DRAGOONS); Turkish Crimea Medal, Sardinian type (CORPL. CHAS BRYANT 13 HUSSARS.) - both medals regimentally impressed and on an ornate silver top buckle.

Charles Bryant was baptised in Monkton Coombe, Bath on 28 December 1835. He enlisted with the 13th Light Dragoons at Westminster on 15 March 1854 and was a Tailor by trade. He joined the regiment in the Crimea on 1 August 1855 and was sent to Scutari on 15 September of that year. He fought in the Siege of Sebastopol and was, later, tried by Courts Martial on 16 November 1855 for being absent when Orderly Sergeant.

He was discharged, invalided, from Aldershot on 11 November 1864 after 10 years and 8 months service with two Good Conduct badges. According to the 1901 census he was living in Lavinia Cottage, Ashmore Green in Berkshire with his wife Rosanna and was a Tailor by trade. Ten years later, at the time of the 1911 census he was widowed but living at the same address and listed as an Army Pensioner.

An article in the Berkshire Chronicle of 22 May 1906 states that, "Another veteran was Charles Bryant, who, after serving his King and country for ten years, first in the 13th Light Dragoons and then in the 13th Hussars, has now settled down quietly in Ashmore Green."

Bryant passed away at Ashmore Green on 23 March 1916.

Medals are in good condition unless indicated otherwise. Sold with some research. The "GOONS" on the Crimea medal slightly worn through contact.
