Walter Lilley was born in Darley Abbey, Derbyshire in 1878. He attested for service with the Gordon Highlanders at the age of 14 on 15 April 1878. He served in Malta, Egypt, Ceylon and the East Indies over his 21 year career. 

He was awarded the Long Service & Good Conduct Medal for what was termed Exemplary service and was discharged at Aberdeen on 26 April 1899 at the age of 35. He died on 30 March 1939 at the age of 75 from a cerebral thrombosis. 

Medals are in good condition unless indicated otherwise. Sold with some research. Partial loss of definition through contact to the "Highlanders" on the Egypt Medal. A common occurrence.
