A fine quality replica of this rare medal. Complete with swivelling suspension and finished in pure silver. Issued without a clasp for actions against the Kenyan coastal Arabs under their leader Mbaruk. Admiral Rawson commanded a naval force sent to capture Mbaruk's stronghold at M'wele. This action saw the end of Arab domination of the Kenyan coast. Unusally no clasp was issued but medals were engraved or, in the case of naval recipients, impressed, on the rim. Some already held the medal and so some naval medals which were sent back for engraving of "M'wele 1895-6" are found in differing styles. Clasps will be added to this medal as we get requests as there are a total of 21.
