Sanctioned in 1918, this star is almost identical to the 1914 star except the two small scrolls are removed and the central scroll bears the dates 1914-15. Over 2,366,000 stars were awarded

This star was awarded to all who served in an operational theatre of war or the Naval personnel who served in a ship of war at sea.

The star was awarded for service between 1914 and the 31st December 1915, those who had earlier qualified for the 1914 star were not eligible for this award.
