This action took place between 27th and 28th July 1809 between the British Forces under the command of General Sir Arthur Wellesley and the French under Mashall Claude Victor.
Sir Arthur had joined forces with the Spanish General Gregario Garcia de la Cuesta.
Sir Arthur was created Viscount Wellington of Talavera and Baron Douro after this action.
