For service between 26th July and 2nd August 1897.
This clasp was authorised by Army Order 77 of June 1898. It was awarded to all those who took part in the defence of Chakdarra and Malakand and to those who formed the relief force under Colonel A.J.F.Reid who came up from Mardan.
