In 1982 a Special Constabulary Long Service Medal was introduced with the words Royal Ulster added to the reverse. It was awarded for 15 years service.

Additional clasps are awarded for further ten year periods.

This was superseded in 2001 by a medal with Police Service of Northern Ireland on the reverse.
