William John Pitchers was born on 18 February 1873 (some records say 1874) He joined the Royal Navy on 1 April 1892. He was awarded the Long Service Medal in 1907 and was serving aboard HMS Sphinx in the Persian Gulf affair between 1909 and 1914 and aboard Europa, St George and MGF Pekin II in WWI.

According to the 1939 Register he was a Naval Pensioner living in Church Hill, Braintree.

He died on 6 October 1951 at Colchester Hospital, Colchester, Essex. 

Medals are in good condition unless indicated otherwise. Sold with some research.
