Imperial Service Medal EVIIR reverse engraved (EDWARD RICH)
Edward Rich was born Woking, Surrey in January 1851. Having commenced his career with the Post Office at the lowest entry level in 1877, he rose to be the Overseer of the London GPO. His service record (which is included) makes specific mention of his award of the ISM in January 1911. Although Edward VII was dead by then all ISM awards still carried his Royal Cypher. Rich retired after 33 years service.
According to the 1939 Register he was a Retired Civil Servant living at 41 Hurst Green, Brightlingsea, Essex
